Tax foreclosure

Most tax liens are kept by Towns. We’ve successfully negotiated repayment plans for owners to avoid foreclosure proceedings and save their homes.

When Towns sell tax liens to for profit private investors things can get more challenging. We were contacted by a senior whose property had been taken by a private investor. The investor purchased from the Town a tax lien on her property of several hundred dollars, which she was not aware she owed. They then foreclosed on the lien, taking her property and her significant equity in it.

Her attorney asked us for help. We got back her property for repayment of the lien amount and some interest. She was able to keep her home and equity.
